Volunteer Code of Conduct READ CAREFULLY, AS THIS DOCUMENT IS CONSIDERED BINDING.
*
At Mr. Grey’s Strays (“Nonprofit”) we require that all our volunteers conduct themselves according to the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and behavior when dealing with fellow staff and especially the animals on the premises. Volunteers are critical to the success of the Nonprofit, and whether you are cleaning cages, screening applications, or simply cuddling cats, your contribution is invaluable.
This Code establishes the standards of behavior that must be met by all volunteers. Where these standards are not met, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. By volunteering, you are making a commitment to both our staff and our animals to carry out, to the best of your abilities, the tasks you have pledged to perform.
Operation:
The purpose of this policy is to make it clear what the Nonprofit expects from volunteers, and volunteers are required to be familiar with and always comply with the terms of this policy. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including potentially termination of their volunteer opportunity. Volunteering is done on an “at-will” basis, meaning a volunteer may be terminated at any time for any reason.
Insofar as this policy imposes any obligations on the Nonprofit, these obligations are not contractual and do not give rise to any contractual rights. To the extent that this policy describes benefits and entitlements for volunteers, they are discretionary in nature and are also not intended to be contractual.
THE NONPROFIT MAY UNILATERALLY INTRODUCE VARY, REMOVE OR REPLACE THIS POLICY AT ANY TIME.
Standards of Conduct:
Compliance with all Nonprofit and workplace policies, procedures, rules and regulations, as outlined below
Volunteers are not, under any circumstances, to change or otherwise modify the methods used to administer care to any animals on the premises without EXPLICIT approval from Nonprofit management. Negligence may result in termination of volunteer opportunity
Volunteers are expected to only perform the duty they were brought onboard for, and should not pursue other tasks without EXPLICIT permission
Volunteers are prohibited from making any changes to computer systems, programs, kennel cards, adoption documents, volunteer documents, appointments, or any other related clerical task, without EXPLICIT permission and instruction from Nonprofit management. Failure to comply may result in termination of volunteer opportunity
Volunteers are prohibited from administering any medical care to animals to which they are not assigned, especially when they are not assigned and/or qualified to administer such care. This action can be dangerous, and may result in immediate termination of volunteer opportunity Volunteers are expected to devote their full attention and skill to the animals the entire time during normal volunteering hours and at other times reasonably necessary for the volunteer to perform their duties
Volunteers are expected to be honest and fair in dealings with fellow volunteers, Nonprofit management, and clients, and to treat them with courtesy and respect
Volunteers are expected to walk in a safe and compliant manner, and to observe all workplace health and safety rules and responsibilities, especially when in reference to any animals on the premises
Volunteers are expected to treat all animals on premises with the utmost care and respect. Any volunteer in violation of this policy may have their volunteering opportunity terminated
Volunteers are not to make any statements about the Nonprofit in social media, or any other public platform, that may harm the Nonprofit’s reputation
Volunteers are not to engage in conduct, whether during or after volunteer hours, that in the opinion of the Nonprofit causes damage or potential damage to the Nonprofit’s property or reputation
Volunteers are expected to dress in an appropriate manner and to ensure that appearance is presentable, clean, neat and tidy, particularly being aware of possible disease contamination to the animals present on the premises
Finally, Volunteers are expected at all times to behave in a way that upholds the Nonprofit’s core values and the integrity and good reputation of the Nonprofit
Closing Statement:
The policies contained in this document ensure the proper care and maintenance of all animals at the Nonprofit, and while restricting, are meant to make Volunteers’ time as smooth and enjoyable as possible. The combined signature of this document and the Release of Liability and Waiver qualify you to start volunteering at Mr. Grey’s Strays; however, the policies within this document are binding and will be enforced. Signing below indicates full agreement with all above statements and commitment to uphold all policies, rules and regulations.
