Volunteers are needed at our physical location, 18 East Avenue, Brockport, and include:
Feeding - We are a lot of mouths to feed and we could also use help at meal time
Cleaning & Socializing– Volunteers will need to help clean free roaming rooms, as well as crates and cages. It’s hands-on work that is vital to our operations. Petting, holding, playing with or just talking softly to our kitties is imperative to make them trusting and loving pets. Positive exposure to people is the only way to achieve this. We are especially in need of patient people to work our skittish, shy and apprehensive cats.
Floor Manager - A volunteer in one of our rooms should remain in that room for the duration of their shift to minimize spreading of germs. We need someone who can stock supplies, assist other volunteers as general runner, and generally keep it together with a smile. A rescue is a hectic environment, so the ability to keep your cool under pressure is a must!
Can’t Help at the Shelter? Here are some other volunteer opportunities:
Transportation– Our kitties need rides to and from vet appointments. A list of appointments would be emailed out, and volunteers may sign up for times/dates they are available to transport.
Adoption Applications Reviewers – At times we may need volunteers to screen adoption applications, especially during busy times when we receive many new applications for kitties. This can be done from your own home. Training will be provided.
Computer Work – Updating our pet database, scanning and entering vet paperwork, and adding photos to profiles. This would be done at the shelter on a weekly basis. Training will be provided.
Repairs/Odd jobs – Occasionally the shelter itself may be in need of repair work, physical reorganization, or heavy-duty cleaning. This would be an “on call” position on an “as needed” basis.
Fundraising – Various roles involved in fundraising efforts. This would be on an “as needed” basis.
